January 2017 Paper Pumpkin Alternative - PP01-17

Paper Pumpkin is a great gift item for anyone!  A monthly kit precut and ready to go!
(written by Stampin’ Up!)

What's inside:
Every kit includes an exclusive stamp set, ink spot, and embellishments to create a predesigned project. At least six times a year, we send an all card kit with eight or more cards. Sometimes the kit includes cards plus gift bags, banners, treat bags, or boxes. Other times, it’s home décor, giftables, or just treat packaging. No matter what it is—we promise you’ll love it, or we’ll make it right!

When does it ship:
Treat yourself to a crafting surprise every month. Because sometimes the best way to get creative is inside the box—the little red box that arrives at your door around the 20th of the month. We make it fast, easy, and fun for you to enjoy your favorite hobby—creating! Subscribe by the 10th of any month to get your first kit delivered that month. We can’t wait to craft with you!

Fast. Easy. Fun.
As a crafter, creative, and maker, you want to be “that person” who always has cards and gifts on hand for every occasion. You’ll always be ready—armed with lots of pretty, perfectly put together projects. In other words, we do the hard part, leave the fun to you, and make you look good. (Don’t worry; your secret is safe with us.)

I would be most happy to be your Canadian demonstrator.

My alternative is a card.

Stamps: Adoring Arrows.

Cardstock: white, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, gold foil.

Ink: Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride.

Tools: bone folder, Sponge, Love Notes Framelits dies, Dimensionals, glue dots, 16” gold thread, Fine Tip glue, snail adhesive, envelope.

Punches: 1” circle.

Prepare card by cutting white cardstock at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”.  Fold in half for a side fold card – a bone folder gives you a crisp fold.  Stamp and sign the back.  Set aside.

Cut Blushing Bride cardstock 5-1/4” x 4” for the outside of the card.  Sponge edges with Calypso Coral ink.  Run through the Falling Petals embossing folder (Occasions 2017).  Adhere to card front.  Set aside.

Here is what the box that comes with the kit looks like.

Cut apart the long way as shown.

Cut apart crosswise way as shown. You can get two cards from one box.

Over stamp the gold edged pre-cut flag die with the little hearts in Blushing Bride ink.  Sponge edges of gold heart panel, gold heart flag and the gold edged pre-cut flag die with Calypso Coral ink.  We also need the pre-cut vellum flag die.

Use the bone folder to curl the ends of the flags.

Cut gold foil 2-1/4” x 3-3/4”.  Using the Love Notes Framelits dies, cut two arrows from the center.  Set arrows aside.  Adhere the gold foil to the heart panel.  Trim close and adhere to card front.

I find it easier to stamp the hearts on a scrap of white cardstock then cut them out rather than trying to line the images up with the die cuts.  Stamp the Love and the outlined heart in Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the Happy Valentines Day in Blushing Bride ink.  These stamps are from Adoring Arrows stamp set that come with this month’s kit.

Cut out by hand.  Sponge edges in Calypso Coral ink.  Add Dimensionals to the top and bottom of each heart.  Set aside.

Adhere the white flags to the card front.

Place glue dots (included in the kit) on to the pink stripes of the vellum flag.

Adhere vellum flag to center of the white flags.  Add a couple more glue dots towards the bottom of the vellum flag to hold in place.  Add a gold foil double heart sticker (included in the kit) at the top of the narrow flag.

Wrap 16” gold thread (included in the kit) around a couple of fingers and finish with three fingers.  Glue dot to the bottom of the foil heart sticker.  Trim ends if necessary.

Add stamped hearts.  Apply Fine Tip glue to one arrow and adhere to card.

Craftastic Days with Stacy has a video that shows us how to make a gift card holder from one of the boxes.  I followed her idea.

Fold box on the third fold line from the long edge with the two-way tape.  Press with a bone folder.

Open box and turn over.  Fold bottom flaps on fold lines and score.  Glue down the three flaps leaving the one with the two-way tape unglued.

Use the 1” punch to take a half bite at the top of the panel with the two-way tape.

Fold on pre-scored line again.  Remove the paper backing from the left side.

Press flap to close with the bone folder.

Repeat for the bottom flap.  Set aside.

Cut Calypso Coral cardstock 2-3/4” x 4”.  Stamp edges with the tiny hearts with Calypso Coral ink.

Write your message on your card.  Adhere a gift card with a glue dot and insert into pocket (I don’t have a gift card so we’ll just pretend that I do).

Add one each of the pre-cut flag dies.  Sponge and stamp a pre-cut heart die with Calypso Coral ink.  Add remaining arrow.  Adhere to gift card holder.

Adhere to the inside of the card.

Decorate an envelope with the heart images.
