Used the Level 2 Wings of Friendship Hostess set for this card. It was a fun card to make! I swiped the edge of the main image with the LL ink instead of sponging. I stamped the yellow flower on a scrap and used a mount under it.  Added Faux Brads.

Paper Envelope

Remember that envelope I posted the other day - Resizing Purchased Envelopes? If you did one, grab it and I will show you how to make another envelope using it as our pattern. You can either trace your envelope onto heavy cardstock or just use the envelope itself.

Grab any kind of light weight paper you want - pages from a magazine, calendars, atlas, wallpaper, wrapping paper ... just anything. If you can find at least 8" square doilies, they will work too.Cut your choice of paper to 81/4" square. With the wrong side of your paper facing you, place the top point of your envelope to any point of your paper. Bring the sides of the paper around your envelope to hug the envelope. Do not glue it yet. Bring the bottom up to fit the bottom of your envelope. You will have a little triangle piece - just bend it down & rip it off. Remove your envelope. Now glue on the bottom edges of the envelope where I indicated. Put a card inside & bring down the top flap. Seal. I usually will put my address label on the wrong side. I feel it gives the envelope added stability.

Envelope Corner Bookmarks

I seen this done many years ago. It is not my idea - I have no clue who to give the credit to.

This is the scraps from yesterdays post.

Measure 23/4" across the top & down the sides of each corner.

Lay your ruler on the diagonal so it touches the two marks on the outside edges. Cut apart using a rotary cutter or your favorite cutting method. We now have two corner pieces. Flip them over & decorate as desired. I used stamps from the Perfect Presentation set with Brocade Blue ink. You can put clear tack on both sides to make them stronger. Now you have two bookmarks to enclose as a little giftie with your card. Great way to use all the envelopes that that darn junk mail comes in too!

Resizing Purchased Envelopes

I have a friend that works at our Drug Store. They are always returning cards back to the company & throwing out the envelopes. She now saves them for me & I am thrilled! Most of them are the right size for our standard cards but some are way too big. This means we have to add two postage stamps to the envelope. Thats no fun so I'm going to show you how I resize these oversized envelopes to fit your standaed card.

First off, you need to make sure your card will fit sideways in the envelope. Just lay your card in or on the envelope - if it is within the boundaries, you are good to go. This envelope measures 53/4" x 81/4" so I have plenty of room.

Next, seal the envelope. Working on the wrong side, put a light pencil mark at 41/4" and 5" from the bottom on both sides. I've used a red marker on this sample so you could see what I'm doing. A light pencil mark is really all you need. Draw a line across the envelope at 8" from the bottom. Fold top part in half to find the center. Mark a line there too.

Lay an ice cream lid on the top part of the envelope so that the edges are touching the 41/4" marks. Trace the curve of the lid.

Draw a line from the 5" marks to the top center line. Cut on these lines thro both thicknesses with plain or fancy scissors. Hang onto these two top corners - I will show you what to do with them in the next post.

Cut from the 5" lines down to the 41/4" lines on the folds. Follow your ice cream lid curve to cut away one thickness only.
Put your card inside & fold closed. Remove card & decorate if desired.

It seems that I've done a lot of jibber jabber here. It really is quick to do. You'd be surprised how many envelopes you can resize while watching the Soaps! Hope you will give it a try!
